DIF Yucatán organizes Carrera Rosa 2026 to support breast cancer survivors

The Sistema DIF Yucatán has announced the details for the Carrera Rosa 2026, a charity running event scheduled for Sunday, October 25, in Telchac Puerto. The initiative aims to raise funds to provide breast prostheses and specialized bras to women who have undergone mastectomies.

Wendy Méndez Naal, Honorary President of DIF Yucatán, noted that the program has already exceeded its goal of benefiting 100 women this year. Each support package, which includes an external prosthesis and two specialized bras, has an estimated value of 15,000 pesos. The event is part of the 'Agenda Rosa 2026' promoted by Governor Joaquín Díaz Mena, which also includes early detection campaigns.

The competition will feature 5-kilometer and 10-kilometer routes, along with a family recreational walk and categories for people with disabilities. Armín Lizama Córdova, Director General of the State Institute of Sports of Yucatán (IDEY), stated that the event offers a total prize pool of 140,000 pesos. The activities are set to begin at 6:00 AM in the main plaza of Telchac Puerto, concluding with the formation of a human pink ribbon on the beach.
