DIFC Courts launches blockchain system for document verification

The Dubai International Financial Centre (DIFC) Courts have launched a new blockchain-based system to verify the authenticity of court orders and hearing records. Utilizing Avalanche’s C-Chain network, the system employs non-fungible token (NFT) technology to issue unique, non-transferable digital credentials for judicial documents.

To maintain privacy, the system does not store sensitive case details or the full text of documents on the public blockchain. Instead, it records a unique cryptographic fingerprint, or hash, and digital identifiers on-chain. This allows banks, government agencies, and businesses to confirm a document’s origin and ensure it has not been altered since issuance. If any changes are made to a document, the verification process will fail.

The initiative is intended to streamline cross-border document verification, reducing administrative delays for individuals and businesses presenting court decisions to international institutions.
