DIFEM provides school breakfasts to over 500,000 beneficiaries
The Sistema para el Desarrollo Integral de la Familia del Estado de México (DIFEM) is providing nutritional support to over 500,000 beneficiaries through its school breakfast program. The initiative includes the operation of more than 2,000 breakfast centers across the state.
Karina Martínez Reyes, Director of Food and Nutrition, stated that the organization provides cold and hot breakfasts, food baskets, and support for various age groups. The program, known as 'Alimentación Escolar para el Bienestar,' recently received top marks in a government evaluation regarding its design, coverage, and service quality.
DIFEM aims to expand its services by transitioning schools from receiving cold breakfasts to utilizing hot breakfast centers. The organization plans to incorporate between 125 and 130 new breakfast centers this year, following the addition of 143 centers in 2024 and 147 in 2025.
