DIGEIG recognizes Dominican institutions for transparency standards
The General Directorate of Ethics and Government Integrity (DIGEIG) has recognized several Dominican institutions for meeting transparency standards and ensuring public access to information during the 2026 Right to Know Week.
The Ombudsman's Office (Defensor del Pueblo) received distinction after scoring 99 points in the Transparency Ranking for the period of June 2025 to May 2026. The recognition highlights the institution's commitment to accountability through its Integrity, Governance, and Government Compliance Committee, as well as its online budget and procurement processes.
Additionally, the General Directorate of Community Development (DGDC) was honored for its compliance with transparency standards and its efforts to maintain an updated transparency portal. The awards were presented as part of a series of activities aimed at strengthening open government, citizen participation, and the right to access public information in the Dominican Republic.
