Venezuela bans ATVs on highways as DIGESETT marks 29 years

In Venezuela, the National Institute of Land Transport (INTT) has strictly prohibited the circulation of all-terrain vehicles (ATVs or quad bikes) on highways, roads, and avenues nationwide. The agency stated that these vehicles are intended exclusively for off-road, sporting, or recreational use. The prohibition is based on technical safety deficiencies, including a lack of regulated lighting and rearview mirrors, tires designed for dirt that lose traction on asphalt, and insufficient braking and suspension systems for high-speed traffic. Authorities warned that failure to comply could result in administrative sanctions and vehicle impoundment.

In the Dominican Republic, the General Directorate of Transit and Land Transport Security (DIGESETT) is celebrating its 29th anniversary. The institution held various commemorative activities, including religious services and patriotic ceremonies, to recognize its service to road safety. DIGESETT leadership highlighted technological advancements, such as the upcoming integration of drones for real-time traffic monitoring, and emphasized ongoing efforts in driver education and accident prevention.

Additionally, the Dominican National Institute of Land Transit and Transport (Intrant) has entered discussions with the National Federation of Dominican Transport (Fenatrado) to improve cargo vehicle transit and enhance road safety through potential new regulatory agreements.
