Digi doubles fiber optic speeds to 2 Gbps

Digi has upgraded its Fibra Smart service, doubling the speed from 1 Gbps to 2 Gbps for existing and new customers at no additional monthly cost. This upgrade utilizes XGS-PON technology.

To fully utilize these speeds, users must have compatible hardware. This includes a router capable of supporting the new bandwidth and computers equipped with appropriate ports. Digi notes that depending on the specific router model, the upgrade may be automatic or may require a hardware update. Upgrading a router via self-installation costs 30 euros, while technician installation costs 60 euros.

Some users have reported issues following the transition. One customer noted that despite the speed increase, the stability of the connection for Digi TV services remained poor, citing frequent cuts and audio quality issues during live broadcasts.
