Digi expands market share in Spanish telecom sector

Digi is experiencing significant growth in the Spanish telecommunications market, driven by its low-cost model and high rates of customer portability. Despite reporting losses in the first half of the year, the company’s stock value has risen, with shares recently estimated around 6.85 euros, up from a post-IPO low of 5.15 euros.

According to data from the National Commission on Markets and Competition (CNMC), Digi has seen a 12.2% increase in broadband lines, reaching 2.88 million lines by the end of the first half of the year. This growth significantly outpaces major competitors: Movistar grew by 1.1%, Vodafone by 0.29%, and MasOrange by 0.15%.

In the fiber optic segment (FTTH), which accounts for 93.3% of the Spanish fixed broadband market, Digi’s expansion is particularly notable as it continues to capture market share from established providers, with MasOrange appearing to be the most affected by these customer shifts.
