Digi faces competition probe in Spain over alleged price dumping while promoting low‑cost portable internet

Romanian telecom operator Digi is promoting a low‑cost portable internet solution for customers who cannot install fiber, offering a SIM compatible with a 4G/5G router at prices starting from €5 per month. The service targets users in secondary residences and vacation areas where Digi’s fiber coverage is limited.

At the same time, several major Spanish operators are preparing to ask the Comisión Nacional de los Mercados y la Competencia (CNMC) to investigate Digi’s aggressive promotional campaigns. They allege that some offers may be priced below cost, constituting illegal dumping that could distort competition in the Spanish telecom market. Digi counters that its pricing results from an efficient, long‑term industrial model, cites profitability in 2025, and says it complies with market rules while planning a stock market listing in Spain.
