Digi International to acquire Disruptive Technologies for $130 million
Digi International has entered into a definitive agreement to acquire sensing technology company Disruptive Technologies for $130 million in cash. The transaction, which is expected to close before the end of 2026 pending regulatory approval, will be funded through Digi’s existing revolving credit facility.
Disruptive Technologies specializes in proprietary edge sensors that have been deployed globally in more than 25 countries. These sensors, which can have battery lives of up to 15 years, provide data on temperature, humidity, water, motion, and occupancy. The acquisition is intended to strengthen Digi’s SmartSense platform, specifically the ‘Sense’ layer of its framework, by integrating physical world intelligence with AI and analytics.
Beyond technical capabilities, the deal provides Digi with its first significant commercial presence in Europe. The combined entity aims to expand its service reach from food safety and healthcare monitoring into new sectors such as building automation and occupancy tracking. In 2025, Disruptive Technologies reported $15 million in revenue.
