Digimon franchise reaches profit peak and plans new anime for 2027

Bandai Namco Entertainment announced that the Digimon franchise has surpassed its previous profit record set in 2000, according to President Nao Udagawa. The surge is driven by strong sales of the Digimon Story: Time Stranger game, which sold over one million copies worldwide within two months of its October 2025 release.

To celebrate the franchise’s 30th anniversary, a new Digimon anime is scheduled for launch in 2027. The announcement also includes a re‑airing of the original series—Adventure, Adventure 02, Tamers and Frontier—in a fan‑voted compilation, as well as a new opening theme composed by Michihiko Ohta with lyrics by Hiroshi Yamada and performed by Ayumi Miyazaki and Takayoshi Tanimoto.
