Digital activists linked to Gustavo Petro show mixed social media activity

An analysis using the Grok artificial intelligence tool has examined the social media activity of digital activists linked to former Colombian President Gustavo Petro. The study tracked the engagement levels of five specific profiles—Elizabeth Ortiz, David Rozo, Fabián Carpio, Levy Rincón, and Celso Tete Crespo—across three distinct periods between February 2025 and September 2026.

The findings indicate mixed results following the end of the Petro administration. While Elizabeth Ortiz and Levy Rincón maintained or increased their interaction levels on X, other activists such as Celso Tete Crespo, David Rozo, and Fabián Carpio saw a decline in activity after reaching peaks during the 2026 electoral period.

The reports also highlight the professional ties between several of these influencers and the Colombian state. For instance, Elizabeth Ortiz reportedly received approximately $795 million pesos through 13 service contracts between 2023 and 2026. Other activists held contracts with entities such as RTVC, the Ministry of Environment, and the Department of Social Prosperity.
