Digital Asset raises $10 million from Shinhan and SC Ventures for Canton blockchain

Digital Asset, the developer of the Canton blockchain network, announced on July 21 that Shinhan Financial Group of South Korea and SC Ventures, the venture arm of Standard Chartered, each contributed to a strategic investment of $10 million. The contribution expands the June‑announced funding round to a total of $365 million.

The round, originally led by a16z crypto and valued at $2 billion, already included investors such as HSBC, BNP Paribas, SBI Group and Citadel Securities. The new capital will be used to accelerate adoption of Canton—a public layer‑1 blockchain with privacy features for regulated capital‑market applications, including on‑chain US Treasury trading—particularly among institutional investors in Asia.
