Digital asset regulation and tokenized money adoption expand globally
A joint report by the World Economic Forum and Boston Consulting Group indicates that digital asset regulation is evolving beyond cryptocurrency. The study, covering 35 jurisdictions, suggests that tokenization and digital money—such as stablecoins and programmable payments—may have a more significant impact on financial stability and national currency control than speculative assets like Bitcoin.
Parallel findings from a DBS Group survey show rapid corporate adoption of these technologies. The survey of 422 business leaders reported that 88% of organizations have either deployed or are piloting tokenized money to improve liquidity management and cross-border payments. Stablecoins were the most widely used instrument at 63%, followed by tokenized deposits and money market funds. This shift indicates that digital assets are moving from experimental phases into practical applications within mainstream corporate finance.
