Digital associations urge EU to harmonize online child safety rules

AFNUM and 13 professional associations representing digital economy companies are calling on European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen to establish a harmonized regulatory framework for online child protection.

The groups argue that while the European Commission prepares its legislative priorities, various Member States are implementing divergent national laws. These conflicting regulations may weaken the single market and undermine existing frameworks like the Digital Services Act (DSA). The associations advocate for a unified European approach to ensure legal certainty, better safety outcomes for children, and a flexible framework capable of adapting to technological advancements.
