Digital bank accounts offer significant savings over traditional banking
Analysis of the banking market highlights a growing divide between traditional and digital accounts. Traditional bank accounts for families average approximately 153 euros annually, with Bper Banca and Monte dei Paschi di Siena noted as among the most expensive. In contrast, online accounts are significantly more cost-effective, averaging 42.91 euros per year.
For younger consumers under 30 or 35, several digital options offer zero monthly fees. ING’s Arancio Più is recognized for its low costs for youth and those with direct deposit. Isybank, a digital brand of Intesa Sanpaolo, is highlighted for eliminating monthly fees and stamp duties for users under 35. Other notable digital options include Fineco One, BBVA, and Banca Sistema.
Among traditional banking options, UniCredit’s Genius account is identified as a more affordable alternative for families, youth, and pensioners. When selecting digital services, consumers are advised to look beyond ‘zero fee’ slogans and evaluate features such as IBAN origin, transaction limits, investment tools, and customer support quality. Providers like Revolut, N26, Hype, and Trade Republic cater to different needs ranging from international travel to integrated investment platforms.
