Indonesia fintech sector shifts from cash-burning to profitability
The Indonesian fintech industry is undergoing a significant transition from a ‘cash-burning’ phase toward sustainable business models. According to data from the Indonesian Fintech Association (AFTECH), 43% of domestic fintech companies have successfully recorded net profits as the digital financial ecosystem matures.
AFTECH Secretary General Firlie Ganinduto noted that this shift toward profitability may encourage member companies to pursue Initial Public Offerings (IPOs) on the Indonesia Stock Exchange. The industry is increasingly prioritizing long-term stability over rapid volume growth. Furthermore, 84% of industry players have integrated artificial intelligence into daily operations for tasks such as risk mitigation, fraud detection, and customer service automation.
In other domestic developments, the entertainment and cultural sectors are active. The ‘Squid Game: The Experience’ is set to debut in Jakarta at Agora Mall on October 16, 2026, offering immersive interactive challenges. Additionally, the LPS Financial Festival 2026 will be held in Lampung on September 5-6 to promote financial literacy. The music scene also sees upcoming events, including the band FILM. performing their ‘Pesta Perayaan Manuskrip’ in Jakarta on September 10, and a diverse lineup of 15 films scheduled for release in Indonesian cinemas throughout September.
