Digital finance growth in Vietnam presents opportunities and risks
The rapid growth of digital finance in Vietnam is creating both significant opportunities and new risks. At a recent conference organized by the Ho Chi Minh City Trade and Investment Promotion Center (ITPC) and the Vietnam International Arbitration Centre (VIAC), experts discussed the complexities of digital transformation in financial transactions.
While digital finance expands access to capital and services for businesses, it introduces challenges such as data leaks, online fraud, cyberattacks, and unregulated business models. VIAC reported that disputes in the banking and finance sector accounted for approximately 10% of their total cases in 2025. Experts emphasized the need for a complete legal framework to ensure market safety and transparency.
In the context of asset management, the trend toward ‘one-touch’ investing—where transactions are completed with a single click—requires investors to exercise greater caution. Professionals noted that while technology makes asset allocation and accumulation more convenient, the speed of these operations necessitates more careful decision-making to mitigate risks and achieve long-term financial efficiency.
