Digital governance and AI summits focus on African technological sovereignty
Chad has launched the Central Africa Internet Governance Forum (FGI-AC) in N’Djamena. The forum aims to address strategic issues regarding digital sovereignty, security, and regional integration. Minister of Telecommunications Haliki Choua Mahamat highlighted regional challenges, including high internet costs, insufficient infrastructure, and cybercrime, while urging the region to move from being mere consumers of foreign technology to creators of local digital solutions.
Separately, the fourth edition of the SIN Africa 2026 inter-regional digital summit is scheduled for October 15, 2026. Organized by the Digital Africa Cluster (CDA), the online event focuses on the role of artificial intelligence in advancing human capital. Key discussions will center on how AI can reinvent health, education, and professional training across the African continent, involving various international experts and researchers.
