Digital health sectors evaluate AI integration and ethical challenges

The Costa Rican Social Security Fund (CCSS) recently hosted the XIV Clinical Bioethics Meeting to address the ethical implications of integrating artificial intelligence into healthcare. The event focused on data protection, equity, human rights, and institutional responsibility. Participants examined how to implement AI while maintaining patient dignity and human oversight in decision-making processes.

In Spain, the digital health sector is experiencing a shift characterized by increased investment in AI alongside a projected moderation in growth. According to the Beazley Digital Health & Wellness 2026 report, there is rising adoption of AI in patient treatment, diagnostics, and administrative services. However, industry leaders expressed concerns regarding cyber risks, professional liability, and the need for specialized workforce competencies as the sector matures.
