Digital health services expand in Argentina and Venezuela

Health services in Argentina and Venezuela are expanding their digital capabilities through new telemedicine and self-management platforms.

In Argentina, the Municipality of General Pueyrredón (MGP) has expanded its telemedicine access by installing video call terminals at various health centers, including CEMA, Batán, CAPS Ameghino, and CAPS Belgrano. This service provides 24/7 access to general medicine and pediatrics via spontaneous demand, with mental health services expected to be added soon. Subsecretary of Health Stephanie Schon noted that the initiative aims to bring the healthcare system closer to residents by providing rapid, virtual responses.

In Venezuela, Grupo Médico Santa Paula (GMSP) has launched a new web portal designed for comprehensive patient self-management. The platform allows users to schedule appointments, purchase laboratory and imaging exams, and manage administrative requirements remotely. The system utilizes QR codes for streamlined admission and offers a directory of specialists. July Blanco, GMSP's Web Marketing and Communications Administrator, described the portal as a self-management e-commerce tool that supports various payment methods to optimize patient wait times.
