Digital health tools launched to support patients in Spain and Costa Rica

New digital tools have been launched to improve patient access to medical information and research opportunities in Spain and Costa Rica.

In Spain, Fundación Alivia has introduced OncoChat, an informative tool designed to assist cancer patients in understanding complex medical information, managing side effects, and preparing for consultations. The initiative aims to alleviate the pressure on oncologists, who according to the Spanish Society of Medical Oncology (SEOM), spend approximately 77.4% of their working time on clinical care. OncoChat is intended solely for informational support and does not replace professional medical diagnosis or treatment.

In Costa Rica, the Cámara Costarricense de la Salud has released a free public platform that allows patients and families to search for active clinical trials within the country. The tool provides essential details such as study objectives, participant requirements, responsible research centers, and contact information. The platform includes both interventional and observational studies, aiming to connect patients with research opportunities that may serve as alternatives for their health conditions.
