Digital identity and biometric security demand rises amid AI fraud threats

The rise of AI-driven fraud, deepfakes, and sophisticated identity theft is driving increased demand for secure biometric and digital identity solutions. In Sweden, companies are positioning themselves to address these evolving security threats for governments, financial institutions, and consumers.

Precise Biometrics is merging with Fingerprint Cards to create a larger Swedish biometric entity. The goal is to combine complementary technologies to offer a broader product portfolio and a larger global customer base, addressing the need for secure identification in both digital and physical environments.

Meanwhile, Signicat reports that identity fraud in Sweden is increasingly targeting existing accounts, with 70 percent of fraud occurring during login and 31 percent during transactions. Experts emphasize the need for integrated platforms that combine identity verification, authentication, digital signing, and regulatory compliance to prevent security gaps caused by fragmented systems.
