Digital initiatives launched in Niger and Senegal
In Niger, the Ministry of Communication and New Information Technologies and Airtel Niger have launched a Corporate Social Responsibility campaign for 2026-2027. A key component of this partnership is the ‘Tech Fellowship’ program, which provides ten scholarships to young Nigerien female high school graduates to pursue a three-year curriculum at ESCEP. The initiative aims to reduce the gender gap in technology and support national digital sovereignty.
In Senegal, the Ministry of Communication, Telecommunications, and Digital Economy has introduced the ‘Rose & Bleu Digital 2026’ initiative. This program leverages digital tools to enhance cancer prevention and awareness, specifically targeting breast, cervical, and prostate cancers. The initiative seeks to utilize artificial intelligence, telemedicine, and electronic patient records to improve healthcare access and data analysis, addressing significant cancer case numbers reported by GLOBOCAN.
