Digital innovation drives tourism services in Italy
Digital innovation is increasingly driving the tourism sector in Italy, transforming how visitors interact with destinations. In regions such as Val Seriana and the Bergamo valleys, digital services are being integrated across hotels, mountain refuges, shops, and local transport to streamline the traveler's journey from initial online research to post-trip feedback.
In Colle di Val d'Elsa, the municipality has implemented two new touchscreen totems at strategic locations, including the entrance to the historic center and a main bus stop. These devices provide access to information regarding local events, museums, and services, even outside of standard office hours. This installation is part of a six-year agreement with Publi Città S.p.A., which manages the equipment and internet connectivity.
This digital expansion is part of a broader reorganization of tourist reception in Colle di Val d'Elsa. By 2026, information offices will be relocated to the San Pietro Museum and the Archaeological Museum, complemented by a new service point at a reopened kiosk in via Bilenchi, aiming to create a connected network of city access points and cultural sites.
