Digital literacy initiatives target elderly populations in Spain and Colombia

Various regional initiatives are targeting the digital divide among elderly populations through specialized training programs.

In Galicia, Spain, the Enredando Tour ‘Amtega’—a collaboration between Cruz Roja and the Agency for Technological Modernization of Galicia (Amtega)—has concluded its latest edition. The mobile training unit traveled across four provinces, reaching 242 participants in 21 localities. The workshops focused on artificial intelligence, virtual reality, electronic banking, online shopping, and cybersecurity to prevent fraud.

In Ubaté, Colombia, the local Mayor's Office, in partnership with Uniminuto and the Public Policy for Aging and Old Age, has launched a digital literacy course. This program aims to foster autonomy by teaching seniors how to use computers, conduct online research, and perform digital administrative procedures for daily activities.
