Digital Missionaries hold first national meeting in Portugal

The first National Meeting of Digital Missionaries is taking place in Alfândega da Fé, within the Diocese of Bragança-Miranda, marking the formal establishment of a national network for online evangelization in Portugal. The event is expected to gather over three thousand participants, including content creators and communicators.

Bishop Nuno Almeida emphasized that the digital continent has become a major frontier for mission work, stating that the Church must be present where people live and seek meaning. The initiative aims to create a manifesto regarding the Church's presence in the digital world, the conclusions of which will be sent to the Portuguese Episcopal Conference.

The meeting is organized by the Canon Manuel Joaquim Ochôa Foundation, the Sanctuary of the Immaculate Heart of Mary of Cerejais, and the Diocesan Secretariat for Culture and Tourism of Bragança-Miranda. Proceeds from the event will support the requalification of the sanctuary. Organizers noted that the goal is not merely to increase follower counts or content production, but to foster authentic human connection and share best practices for digital ministry.
