Digital mobility upgrades launched in Lecce and Negrar di Valpolicella

Italian municipalities are implementing new digital technologies to modernize urban mobility and parking management.

In Lecce, SGM is planning a €4.9 million digital transformation. The project includes expanding the number of parking meters from 152 to 221. These new devices will function as multi-service digital hubs, allowing users to pay via contactless methods, check ZTL (Limited Traffic Zone) permits by entering a license plate, and pay fines via QR code through the PagoPa system. Additionally, the meters will allow citizens to recharge public transport subscriptions.

In Negrar di Valpolicella, a new service has launched allowing drivers to pay for street parking directly through the Telepass smartphone application. The system uses geolocation and license plate registration, enabling users to start, extend, or end parking sessions remotely. This digital approach eliminates the need for physical coins or finding a parking meter, with enforcement officers verifying payments via digital license plate reading.
