Digital News Report highlights media trust and audience reach in Spain and Argentina
The Reuters Institute’s Digital News Report 2026 shows a marked distrust of news among the public in Spain, with 74 % of respondents expressing doubts about online information. Despite this, public broadcaster RTVE stands out with a 52 % trust rating, outperforming other national outlets such as Séxta (46 %) and Telecinco (36 %).
In Argentina, the same report identifies the news organization TN as the leading multiplatform brand. TN commands a 36 % weekly reach across television, radio and print, ranks second online with 35 % usage, and enjoys a 55 % trust level, one of the few Argentine outlets above the 50 % credibility threshold. Overall confidence in Argentine news fell to 26 % – the lowest in a decade – while audience interest in news remains modest.
Both findings illustrate divergent dynamics in media consumption and credibility across the two countries, underscoring challenges for the broader news ecosystem.
