Digital nomadism grows as individuals trade traditional homes for global travel

A growing trend of individuals selling assets to pursue nomadic lifestyles is being highlighted, driven by the rise of remote work and shifts in perspective following the pandemic. One British father, a former truck driver, sold his home to travel with his family after a period of unemployment during the Covid-19 pandemic changed his outlook on work-life balance. He now earns approximately €1,100 per week through online work.

In a more extreme example, American entrepreneur Garrett Gee sold his application, Scan, to Snapchat for an estimated $54 million in 2015. After selling his belongings, Gee and his family embarked on a journey that has lasted over eleven years. Originally intended to be a short trip, the family has since visited 100 countries and transitioned into content creation, earning income through partnerships with major brands such as Disney, GoPro, and Airbnb.
