Digital OFW Pass Launched for Filipino Workers in UAE and Manila

The Philippines' Department of Migrant Workers (DMW) has rolled out a digital Overseas Filipino Workers (OFW) Pass that can be generated through the DMW Mobile App. The Pass serves as a digital identity and exit clearance, replacing the printed Overseas Employment Certificate (OEC). It remains valid until the worker's employment contract ends, unlike the OEC which is limited to 60 days.

At Ninoy Aquino International Airport, 24 international airlines now accept the QR‑coded OFW Pass via the eGovPH app, allowing eligible workers to check in by showing only their passport and the digital pass. The electronic verification system reduces paperwork, speeds up the departure process, and streamlines terminal fee reconciliation for airlines. The initiative targets thousands of Filipino workers traveling to the United Arab Emirates and other Gulf states, offering a more convenient and longer‑lasting clearance method.
