Digital payment advancements in Philippines and Brazil

In the Philippines, Philippine Payments Management, Inc. (PPMI) and Ant International’s Alipay+ have enabled Alipay+ on the QR Ph network. This partnership allows international consumers to use their home e-wallets and banking apps to pay at any QR Ph-accepting merchant in the country. For local merchants, particularly micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs), the integration allows them to accept payments from Alipay+ partner users through existing QR Ph codes without needing new infrastructure.

In Brazil, digital bank PicPay has begun rolling out an integration with Anthropic’s Claude. This feature allows customers to use natural-language commands to perform financial inquiries, such as checking account balances, viewing outstanding bills, monitoring investments, and reviewing recent or upcoming transactions. The integration is being released gradually to early-access users on Android and iOS and does not currently support direct financial transactions through the AI platform.
