Digital payment trust rises among Hungarian youth

Recent data indicates a growing confidence in digital payment solutions among young consumers in Hungary. According to the K&H youth index, nearly four-fifths of 19–29-year-olds view mobile application payments as being as secure as traditional card payments, while also finding them more convenient. This represents a 7 percentage point increase in perceived security and a 10 percentage point increase in perceived convenience over the last four years.

Looking ahead, seven out of ten young respondents believe mobile devices will replace physical bank cards for payments within a few years. Trust in other digital methods is also rising, with 79% trusting smartphone contactless payments and 75% viewing wearable technology, such as smartwatches, as secure.

In the commercial sector, OTP Bank and Mastercard have launched a collaboration featuring McLaren Formula 1 Team themed digital card designs. This initiative aims to merge technological innovation with fan experiences, offering cardholders the chance to participate in a promotion for a trip to the McLaren Technology Centre in England.
