Digital Realty Bersama appoints Raymond Yan as President Director

Digital Realty Bersama has appointed Raymond Yan as its new President Director. The strategic move aims to strengthen the company’s growth and solidify Indonesia’s position as a regional connectivity hub through the expansion of its data center network. Yan, who has over 20 years of experience in telecommunications and digital infrastructure, previously served as President Director at PT Centratama Telekomunikasi Indonesia, Tbk.

Separately, the data center industry faces environmental challenges regarding water consumption and chemical runoff. Research indicates that AI-driven data centers consume significant amounts of water for cooling systems. In Indonesia, the construction of a BDX AI data center was temporarily halted due to pending environmental and building permit requirements. Additionally, the use of biocides like chlorine dioxide or bromine in cooling systems to prevent organic buildup poses risks of water pollution through chemical runoff.
