Digital safety initiatives focus on child protection and AI risks
In Salto, Uruguay, Tigo and Club Ferrocarril have launched a series of interactive workshops designed to promote digital safety for children. The initiative uses educational games to teach participants how to manage personal data, create secure passwords, identify reliable websites, and prevent risks while navigating or gaming online. The program also aims to bridge the generational gap by providing children with tools to help educate their families about digital self-care.
In Argentina, forensic IT expert César Agüero has highlighted the urgent need for cybersecurity education in schools to combat the risks posed by rapid advancements in artificial intelligence. Agüero warned that the lack of a digital prevention culture exposes adolescents to identity theft, harassment, and the fraudulent manipulation of images. He noted that while technology evolves, it is often used for scams and harm, emphasizing that teenagers frequently share information online without considering the long-term legal or professional consequences of their digital footprint.
