Digital services launched for passport payments and appointments in Peru and the US

Peru's National Superintendency of Migrations has partnered with the digital payment platform Yape to digitize passport-related fees. Citizens can now use the “Yapear Servicios” feature to pay for passport issuance, urgent issuance, and mobile enrollment. These three services account for approximately 90% of the agency's total collections. The integration aims to provide a faster and more secure digital alternative before citizens visit physical offices.

In the United States, the United States Postal Service (USPS) has integrated tools into its USPS Mobile app to facilitate passport appointment scheduling. While the Department of State remains responsible for formal processing, the mobile tool allows users to locate service centers and reserve time slots to avoid lines. The app enables users to pay processing fees and purchase priority postage via credit or debit card, and it provides digital confirmation and automated reminders for required documentation.
