Digital Sun moves ReVamp playtest to Discord to prevent AI cloning

Digital Sun, the indie studio behind Moonlighter and Cataclismo, has postponed the Steam playtest for its upcoming title, ReVamp, due to concerns regarding generative AI and game cloning. The developers expressed fear that releasing a public build months before the official launch poses a high risk of the game being reverse-engineered, cloned, and published by bad actors before the original can reach the market.

Instead of a broad Steam release, the studio will conduct a controlled, wave-based playtest via Discord starting October 29. This smaller-scale approach is intended to mitigate the risk of unauthorized distribution. ReVamp, described as a “tower defensevania” where players control Dracula to defend a fortress, is currently scheduled for a full release on March 25, 2027.
