Digital tools expand into financial literacy and childhood education
Hong Leong Bank has launched HLB Pocket Connect, a digital banking platform designed to help parents introduce financial management and literacy to children. The initiative aims to teach children the value of money and goal-setting through an interactive interface. This move follows data from the Malaysian Insolvency Department showing that youth bankruptcy—individuals under 35—accounted for 25.2% of all bankruptcy cases in Malaysia between 2017 and 2019.
In the realm of mobile education, various iOS applications are being utilized to engage children in learning. Tools such as Metamorphabet focus on alphabet recognition through interactive play, while Ruffy the Husky: On Ice uses puzzles to teach shapes, counting, and animal sounds. These digital tools are intended to supplement methodical education by maintaining interest in scholarly subjects through screen time.
