Digital transformation and local government roles in Polish education

Digital transformation is reshaping the educational landscape through the integration of new technologies. Tools such as interactive platforms, AI-driven lesson planning, and wearable devices like smartwatches are being used to personalize learning and automate the creation of educational materials. These technologies allow for better monitoring of student progress and more efficient time management for both teachers and students.

Gamification, which incorporates game elements like points and rewards into the learning process, is also being utilized to increase student engagement and motivation.

In Warsaw, the Education Development Centre (Ośrodek Rozwoju Edukacji) hosted a conference on August 24–25, 2026, titled ‘The Role of Local Governments in the Digitization of Education – From Vision to Implementation’. The event brought together over 100 representatives from local governments and the Ministry of National Education to discuss the realities of digital transformation in schools.

During the conference, officials emphasized that investing in digitalization is an investment in the quality of education. Discussions focused on how local governments can create the necessary legal, organizational, and technical conditions to implement new curricula and manage the challenges and risks associated with widespread technology adoption.
