Digital transformation initiatives target pharmaceutical logistics and healthcare systems
Spanish pharmaceutical distributors Areafar and Dsinco are implementing artificial intelligence to optimize logistics and demand forecasting. Areafar, which manages approximately 400 daily orders for over 4,000 pharmacies, is using advanced data analysis to predict demand peaks and improve delivery planning. Dsinco is also undergoing a digitalization process to manage its catalog of over 8,000 references and increase responsiveness to growing order volumes.
In Peru, Health Minister Luis Dyer is seeking legislative powers to drive digital transformation within the Ministry of Health (Minsa). The proposal aims to reduce bureaucracy and improve connectivity between hospitals, health centers, and clinics. Current challenges include isolated information management and the continued use of paper records. Key objectives include implementing electronic health records, enabling real-time pharmacy inventory consultations, and improving appointment notification systems.
