Digital wellness and morning routines for mental health

Research and psychological insights suggest that establishing consistent morning routines and managing smartphone usage are key to preserving mental resources and productivity.

Morning routines can take approximately 66 days to become automated. Utilizing the period after waking—when cortisol levels peak and willpower is highest—to engage in predictable, simple activities can provide orientation and reduce the mental load of decision-making. Experts advise against overly complex routines, noting that even five to ten minutes of regular activity can be effective.

Regarding digital habits, excessive smartphone and social media use is linked to decreased productivity, anxiety, sleep disturbances, and addictive behaviors. To maintain focus and psychological well-being, experts suggest strategies such as placing phones in different rooms to create better work and learning environments.
