Digitalization and AI tools improve construction project management

Effective construction project management requires an integrated approach to scope, cost, schedule, quality, and risk. Rather than merely recording results, successful management involves establishing mechanisms to define objectives clearly and detect deviations before they escalate. Defining a clear scope is essential to prevent ambiguities that lead to additional costs and delays.

Methodologies such as Earned Value Management (EVM) allow for the integration of scope, time, and cost into a single analysis system. This helps move management from a reactive state to one capable of anticipating scenarios.

Digitalization and artificial intelligence are becoming critical tools for detecting real-time deviations that traditional budgets might miss. According to the IMF Project Management Study 2025, only 2.5% of surveyed construction companies consistently complete projects within their established time and budget. Patricia Araiza of GAYA notes that while technology cannot change material prices, it can “reduce the cost of chaos” by connecting dispersed information and enabling timely decision-making.
