Digithon event highlights Italian startup support and AI in education

During the eleventh edition of the Digithon digital marathon in Bisceglie, Italian Tourism Minister Gianmarco Mazzi highlighted the importance of supporting young entrepreneurs. Mazzi noted that since 2016, the event founded by Francesco Boccia has engaged 2,500 entrepreneurs and facilitated the registration of 3,000 startups. He emphasized the need to simplify bureaucracy to help youth ideas transition into qualified businesses and encouraged innovators to leverage Italian identity and creativity.

The Minister also detailed government support for startups through the Tourism Innovation Fund, working alongside Cassa Depositi e Prestiti, Argo, and Invitalia. He cited the maritime startup Ulisses as a successful example of specialized innovation.

Separately, Digithon founder Francesco Boccia addressed the role of technology in education, advocating for the integration of artificial intelligence in schools. Boccia argued that AI should be used from early years to support and enhance the work of teachers rather than replace them, calling for a serious debate on how to utilize these digital tools to meet modern educational challenges.
