Digvijaya Singh demands probe into Sagar liquor tragedy

Congress Rajya Sabha MP Digvijaya Singh has called for a detailed investigation into the supply chain of spurious liquor in Madhya Pradesh’s Sagar district following the Banda liquor tragedy, which has resulted in 16 deaths.

After visiting patients at Bundelkhand Medical College, Singh questioned how the illicit alcohol reached local villages. He raised concerns regarding whether the supply originated from licensed contractors or manufacturers and demanded that those responsible face strict punishment.

Singh also urged the state government to provide clear information regarding compensation for the victims' families, noting the severe impact on households that have lost primary breadwinners. Additionally, he requested that separate FIRs be registered for each case to account for the differing circumstances of each victim.
