Digvijaya Singh Served Legal Notice Over Ram Temple Donation as He Plans 1,000‑km Padyatra

Varanasi lawyer Shashank Shekhar Tripathi, convenor of the BJP legal cell, sent a legal notice to senior Congress leader Digvijaya Singh on July 5 after media reports quoted Singh saying he wanted the government to return his Rs 1.11 lakh donation to the Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Temple. Tripathi said the donation was lawful, that a donor cannot demand its return, and even offered to pay the amount himself from his personal income.

Separately, Singh, who is approaching 80, announced a 1,000‑km foot march (padyatra) from Ujjain to Ayodhya beginning around Dussehra (October 20). He pledged the yatra would be non‑political and focused on “Dharma Raksha,” alleging a scam in the Mahakal Temple in Ujjain akin to alleged irregularities in donations to the Ram Temple.
