DIIV releases new single ‘Kid’ ahead of fifth album ‘ZIRP!’
The Brooklyn-based band DIIV has released ‘Kid’, the second single from their upcoming fifth studio album, ‘ZIRP!’. The album is scheduled for release on October 30 via Fantasy Recordings.
Produced by A. G. Cook, the project marks a stylistic shift for the band. While Cook is known for his work in contemporary pop, his approach to ‘ZIRP!’ focused on capturing the band’s live sound, emphasizing live drums and intricate guitar parts over computer-based production. The album title refers to zero interest rate policies, which the band associates with a world of failed startups and atomized users.
‘Kid’ is accompanied by a music video directed by Jaxon Whittington, featuring footage filmed by frontman Zachary Cole Smith’s son, Roy. To support the release, DIIV will perform at various festivals, including Pitchfork Music Festival in Paris and London, and will join Interpol for a North American tour in October.
