Dijon police intervene after fireworks mortar shots in Fontaine-d’Ouche

Police in the Fontaine-d’Ouche district of Dijon intervened following disturbances that occurred after a fireworks display at Lac Kir on Saturday, September 12, 2026.

Groups of youths reportedly fired firework mortars toward law enforcement officers near Avenue Édouard-Belin and Avenue du Lac. In one instance, officers were forced to take cover behind their vehicle after pyrotechnics exploded in close proximity. Other reported incidents included the intentional setting of fires in trash bins and the burning of a shopping cart.

Authorities used tear gas to disperse the groups and restore order. Local residents expressed significant frustration, noting that these tensions have become an annual occurrence following festivities. Some inhabitants reported that the tear gas used during the intervention entered their homes through open windows.
