Dikmen Health Center opens as part of healthcare expansion

The Dr. Halil Onalt Dikmen Health Center has officially opened, named after a Turkish Cypriot doctor who passed away in Istanbul in 2021. The opening ceremony featured speeches from Health Minister Hakan Dinçyürek, Turkish Ambassador to Nicosia Ali Murat Başçeri, and Prime Minister Ünal Üstel.

Minister Dinçyürek highlighted a broader vision for localized healthcare services, noting that the government has been renovating existing centers and opening new clinics from Dipkarpaz to Lefke. He announced several upcoming medical infrastructure projects, including the opening of a State Laboratory next week, and the imminent commissioning of Güzelyurt Hospital and Girne Hospital.

Additional developments mentioned include a large health center under construction in Maras, the reconstruction of the Değirmenlik Health Center, and capacity increases at the Lapta Health Center. Dinçyürek also noted that the İskele Hospital is expected to be completed by the end of the year, while the New Nicosia State Hospital is slated for completion in 2027. The ministry has reportedly made 20 million euros in technological investments, supporting advancements such as robotic surgery and Parkinson’s disease operations.
