Dilek Altay turns silver craftsmanship hobby into professional business

Dilek Altay has successfully transitioned a decade-long hobby into a professional silver craftsmanship business. Originally starting the craft ten years ago for therapeutic purposes following her retirement from airport work, Altay received specialized training from a state artist to refine her skills.

She currently operates workshops in Istanbul and Düzce, producing telkari and various other jewelry pieces. Her products are sold through her shop in the Akçakoca Historical Neighborhood Market and via social media, allowing her to fulfill orders from across Turkey. Altay noted that her business contributes to her family's economy and grew from a small market stall to a dedicated shop.
