Diljit Dosanjh explains religious significance of ‘Ik Onkar’ to fan in Milan

During a concert in Milan, Italy, Punjabi singer and actor Diljit Dosanjh addressed a religious concern involving a fan. A video from the event shows Dosanjh inviting a foreign fan onto the stage, only to notice that the fan was wearing a custom-printed white T-shirt featuring the sacred Sikh term ‘Ik Onkar’ alongside the singer's name.

Dosanjh calmly explained to the fan that ‘Ik Onkar’ is a highly sacred and precious term in Sikhism and should not be paired with a person's name. He suggested the fan likely did not realize the religious significance of the phrase. Rather than expressing anger, the singer handled the situation with sensitivity, eventually asking the audience to forgive the fan.

The fan apologized on stage by joining their hands, and later clarified on social media that there was no intention to cause offense, noting they were unaware of how the text would appear together on the shirt.
