Dilovası Municipality opens new disaster coordination center

Dilovası Municipality has officially opened a Disaster Coordination Center designed to centralize the management of personnel, vehicles, heavy machinery, equipment, and logistics during emergencies. The facility will facilitate real-time incident tracking, information sharing between field units, and the efficient deployment of resources.

Operations at the center will be conducted in coordination with the Kocaeli Governor's Office, the AFAD Kocaeli Provincial Directorate, and the Dilovası District Governor's Office. The center aims to provide comprehensive support to these official bodies during disaster response efforts.

During the opening ceremony, Dilovası Mayor Ramazan Ömeroğlu emphasized that disaster management must encompass risk reduction, preparedness, rapid response, and post-disaster recovery. He noted that the establishment of the municipality's Disaster Affairs Directorate in May 2023 was a key step toward this integrated approach, citing the lessons learned from the February 2023 Kahramanmaraş earthquakes.
